For many Tasmanians, undertaking education or training can be financially challenging, which is why we offer a range of scholarships in partnership with industry, local government and community groups throughout the year.

The South Channel Garden Club Scholarship, in collaboration with Five Bob Farm at Birchs Bay, offers an incredible opportunity for students with a passion for horticulture, plant science, or related fields. This scholarship provides up to $9,000 over three years and includes valuable industry mentoring to support your career journey.

The Tasmania Police Charity Trust Scholarship Fund supports Tasmanians beginning a TasTAFE qualification by offering up to $2,000 to help with study-related costs. Up to three scholarships are available in each major region (south, north, and north-west), aimed at removing financial barriers to education.

Special consideration is given to applicants facing challenges such as family or life circumstances, including those with lived experience of family violence. Scholarships are open to students enrolled in a full TasTAFE qualification starting in Semester 1, 2025, including Fee-Free TAFE courses.

Terms and Conditions

Structure
1. The value is $2,000 per scholarship to directly contribute to costs associated with accessing and participating in training at TasTAFE. This may include tuition and upfront course fees, transport costs, textbooks, internet access, along with anything else that will have a demonstrated impact on the ability to undertake and engage with study at TasTAFE.
2. It is available to eligible students who have enrolled in a full qualification at TasTAFE in Semester 1, 2025.
3. The scholarship will be paid in full upon nomination of eligible and suitable applicants selected by a panel comprising TasTAFE staff and a representative of the Tasmania Police Charity Trust.
4. Scholarships are awarded to applicants who, at the discretion of the selection panel, have fully met the scholarship criteria.
Eligibility
1. Applicants must be Australian citizens or have permanent Australian resident status. * Applicants must be enrolled in a TasTAFE qualification starting in Semester 1, 2025.
2. Applicants must be committed to complete the nominated qualification at TasTAFE in an appropriate timeframe.
3. Applicants must complete and submit the application form provided by TasTAFE.
4. Applicants must attest that they are not in receipt of any other scholarship valued in excess of $500 in total at the time of application.
5. Applicants must provide evidence of: –
  1. a commitment to study; and
  2. a commitment to using the scholarship to directly assist with accessing and participating in training at TasTAFE.
Administration
1. Shortlisting of eligible recipients will be conducted by a selection panel.
2. The panel will assess shortlisted applicants and then forward recommendations to the Tasmanian Police Charity Board, who will approve recipients to receive scholarships. The Charity Board’s decision is final.
3. TasTAFE will notify all applicants in writing of the outcome of their application.
4. All information supplied to panel members, along with relevant TasTAFE and DPFEM staff, is treated as confidential.
