This three-day short course will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to fall trees manually at an intermediate level.
Over the three days of the course, you’ll learn how to assess and develop an action plan for a new falling area and how to prepare the worksite. You’ll also learn how to use workplace health and safety policies and procedures in order to determine worksite precautions and prepare the worksite to the required standards.
You will also learn how to identify tree characteristics and to analyse their effect on the falling operation, and undertake approved falling techniques including chainsaw manipulation procedures for cutting scarfs and how to identify the appropriate scarfing techniques for a particular tree.
This course is suitable for individuals who are required to fell intermediate trees as part of arboriculture, forestry, agriculture, conservation and land management, local government, emergency services and other government agency operations.
All training in this short course is underpinned by workplace health and safety principles and associated legislative requirements.
On successful completion of this short course you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit completed.
