If you have completed a Certificate III Dental Assisting and wish to broaden your skills, then this Dental Radiography skill set might be just the course for you!

This group of units allow you to provide an advanced level of assistance to dental practitioners which contributes to the quality of oral health care by taking prescribed intra oral and extra oral (OPG) dental radiographs.

This Skill Set is available for people who are currently employed in the dental industry as Dental Assistants who have completed Certificate III in Dental

Assisting or a Certificate IV in Dental Assisting or equivalent.

To complete this skill set your workplace is required to have intra and extra oral radiography equipment which is used under the supervision and prescription of a dental practitioner.

Learn how to prepare and expose a prescribed dental radiographic image, including selecting and preparing the appropriate imaging equipment and accessories. Importantly, this course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to correctly and safely operate radiographic imaging equipment to produce prescribed intraoral and extraoral (OPG) images.

The course will be delivered in your workplace and through some off-the-job workshops. To support your study, you will be required to access a text material, you have the option to purchase resources in the form of a text or an e-book or loan from the resource from the TasTAFE Library.

On successful completion of this skill set, you will be able to apply to take prescribed radiographs on your workplace radiation management plan as granted by the relevant State regulatory authority under legislation. Achievement of these units provides credit to HLT45021 Certificate IV in Dental Assisting.
