Get creative and master the design skills you’ll need to construct and produce a range of fashion garments

If you love fashion and want to learn basic design and pattern skills, this nationally recognised qualification is just the course you’ve been looking for!

Delivered in one of our classroom-based Fashion workrooms located in Burnie, Launceston or Hobart, you’ll learn the fundamentals of fashion design and pattern making – including garment construction techniques and industrial sewing production methods.

In this course, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in basic design, sewing production methods, laying and cutting, pattern making and garment construction (sewing) to complete a range of products.

You’ll be encouraged to work both independently and collaboratively with others, and your classes will simulate standard industry workplace practices so that you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge you need to work safely in the workplace.

In this course, you will also learn how to identify fibres, fabrics and textiles and apply quality standards, as well as increase your knowledge of the textile, clothing and footwear industry and the underpinning knowledge required to progress to higher qualification levels.

Successful completion of this course will give you a vocational outcome in Applied Fashion Design and Technology and will equip you to seek employment opportunities in Fashion Design industry at an introductory level.
