A pilot skill set to grow the skills and knowledge of forestry industry employees to become future leaders.
Developed with industry, the Forestry Leadership Skill Set is an opportunity for your organisation to create real pathways and careers in the forestry industry.
There are three key units in the skill set that will provide a well-rounded introduction for upcoming leaders and supervisors:
- Monitor safety, health and environment
- Monitor and improve forestry operations
- Lead effective workplace relations.
These units are a natural fit to build on existing training and skills to keep people in the industry.
Key to this initiative is a workshop delivery model, where we bring our current and future leaders together to build connections and to develop their skills and knowledge.
Training delivery is focused on meeting industry needs and includes face-to-face workshops, webinars and industry-led study group sessions.
This skill set will benefit employers, employees and the forestry industry by:
- Upskilling existing employees for leadership and supervisory roles
- Supporting new employees who may have qualifications or experience outside of forestry.
Those enrolled in the skill set must be employed in a forest or wood products workplace to enable completion of workplace-based assessment tasks.
