Who we are
The Industry Engagement team is TasTAFE’s strategic link to key external stakeholders. Our strategic approach promotes working closely with collaborative partners to understand demand and support the delivery of market-aligned solutions.
The Industry Engagement team consists of:
- Matthew Dance – Senior Manager, Industry Engagement
- David Dunn – Regional and Industry Engagement Manager
- Martin Killick – Regional Engagement Officer (South)
- Richard Ingram – Regional Engagement Officer (North-West)
- Eamonn Doherty – Industry Engagement Project Officer
What we do
Our work is focused on five key strategic areas:
- Strategic Projects – Partnering with industry and government to develop training solutions, secure funding, and deliver workforce development initiatives.
- Centres of Excellences (CoE) & Training Hubs – Supporting specialised training facilities designed to meet industry needs and fostering collaboration through advisory groups and regional engagement.
- Commercial Training Solutions – Working with businesses to design and deliver customised training programs, commercial agreements, and workforce development initiatives.
- Regional Engagement – Connecting local businesses with tailored training opportunities, supporting regional workforce needs, and working alongside initiatives like the Tasmanian Government’s Regional Jobs Hub Network.
- Industry & Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborating with industry, community organisations, and government to develop training programs that align with current and future workforce demands.
How we work with industry and key stakeholders
TasTAFE’s Industry Engagement team collaborates closely with industry and key stakeholders to promote training alignment with current and future workforce.
This includes establishing strategic partnerships with businesses, industry bodies, and community organisations to develop targeted programs, harness government funding, and build workforce capability to meet current and future demands.
Examples of recent collaborations include
- Metal Trades: New equipment preparing TasTAFE students for the latest - Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing & Energy Council
- Metal Trades: Partnership with TMEC supports TasTAFE metals teachers
- Electrotechnology & Plumbing Trades: Reece teams up with TasTAFE to open new Water & Energy Trades Centre of Excellence
- Building Teacher Capacity: TasTAFE developing industry trainers through the Energising Tasmania Training Fund
- Building Teaching Capacity: TasTAFE and TasCOSS providing vital training
- Civil Construction: Regional Trade Training Program in partnership with CCF gets underway
- Health Specialties: Delivering new $5 million health hub at TasTAFE’s Alanvale Campus
