TasTAFE and Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing and Energy Council Limited (TMEC) are joining forces to bolster Tasmania’s manufacturing, energy and mining sectors.
The two organisations are working together to develop a deeper understanding of current and future training demand in industry and how TasTAFE’s training can meet this need. This partnership has been formalised by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Through the MoU TMEC will support TasTAFE with industry-led training solutions that align with the relevant sectors.
The MoU details a collaborative approach to ensure TasTAFE’s training is industry standard and the two organisations will work together in stages to better understand the needs of industry with a view to inform a clear strategic direction for the partnership.
“This MoU is a great representation of TasTAFE’s commitment to industry and delivering a practical training offering that prepares our learners for work in the sector. It’s great to be working closely with TMEC to improve outcomes for our learners” TasTAFE Acting Director Future Students and Industry Matthew Dance said
TMEC CEO, Ray Mostogl, said, “TMEC is excited by the prospect this MoU holds.
As an industry association, TMEC represents multiple participants in the sector. By sharing their needs with TasTAFE we can ensure training is relevant and high quality.
TMEC is committed to partnering with TasTAFE to ensure the success of this renewed approach”.
In the first stage, TasTAFE and TMEC will meet with other industry organisations and employers to gain their perspective on the TasTAFE product suite and their own workforce development.
The work outlined in the MoU began on 5 June 2023 and both organisations will work to review and evaluate progress through each stage.
